What is a Qualified Tax Collector?

In 2001, Governor Ridge signed into law a revision to the Local Tax Collection Law which put into place a voluntary program of basic training, testing, and qualification of tax collectors.  A Qualified Tax Collector has done the classwork and passed the examination showing he or she has mastered the basic procedures and rules of tax collection in Pennsylvania.  The tax collector must complete six credits of State-approved continuing education each year to maintain the “qualified” title.

As a Pennsylvania Qualified Tax Collector, Judy has been added to the list of Pennsylvania's Qualified Tax Collectors on the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development website.
